John Achenbach is a Financial Consultant with Equitable Advisors. Mr. Achenbach has 25 years of investment management experience in the fixed income, equity, and foreign exchange markets, and has traded, executed, and managed personal and outside capital across a variety of exchanges and institutional settings. Within his current role of Financial Consultant with Equitable Advisors, Mr. Achenbach is responsible for providing Client Advisory Services, Wealth Management, and Structured Products Investment Management to a wide variety clients, with a broad range of asset sizes and goals. He also focuses on Corporate Risk Management and Insurance, as well as providing tax management solutions, including long-term financial planning.
Before joining Equitable Advisors, Mr. Achenbach was the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Achenbach Capital Management, an investment partnership which invested in Global Macro strategies. In his role of CIO of Achenbach Capital, Mr. Achenbach was responsible for all investment decisions, trade design and timeline horizons, asset allocation, as well as all aspects of risk management.
Prior to founding ACM, Mr. Achenbach worked for Moore Capital Management as an OTC foreign exchange options execution trader. At Moore, Mr. Achenbach priced, traded and managed options positions for all the Moore funds, including the main Macro fund, as well as for twenty different Moore proprietary traders. Responsibilities included all Street dealer interactions for pricing and trading exotic options structures, as well as monitoring and adjusting risk management variables such as options greeks and profit/loss predictions.
Before Moore, Mr. Achenbach spent seven years on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange as an equity options specialist for Goldman Sachs/TFM Investment Group, and was responsible for making markets and running a portfolio of over 25 different classes of listed equity options, focusing on both short-term and longer-dated positions as well as managing positive and negative premium/volatility trades.
In earlier years, Mr. Achenbach also held a variety of junior trading-related roles at both ABN Amro/Chicago Corporation, as the assistant to the Head of Government Bond Trading, as well as with Donaldson, Lufkin, Jenrette, as an assistant on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
